Sofa Buying Guide
Sofa Buying Guide from Sofa Bargains

Your sofa. Your pride and joy. Buying a sofa is a big decision. It’s that piece of furniture that will stay with you for long while. Your sofa is your confidante. With you through thick and thin. It will see many a joyous moment together. And it will be with you when you are down and need a hug. There is no doubt that the sofa plays a big role in your life. Which means buying the right sofa is very very important.

At Sofa Bargains, we get a lot of questions asking us about how to buy the perfect sofa. We’ve helped many people make the right decision on their sofa. So it seems appropriate to put together our very own Sofa Buying Guide to help you make that decision. We’ve put together a list of things you must consider for a perfect way to choose your new sofa. It’s a simple and easy guide to help you make the right decision.

1)
Seating Arrangement

Take a look at your room and work out which sofa combination will work best for your household. Young children love sharing sofas but we all know some teenagers really crave their own space so a combination of 3 and 2 seaters are ideal – you can even add in an armchair for good measure.

Having a 3 and 2 seater allows luxurious amounts of space and comfort, but if you really want to push the boat out – a recliner can allow you to indulge in the area of ‘me time’.

If a sofa set doesn’t hit the mark for you, how about investing in a corner suite?

With the option to pick from left and right hand facing corners there are no end of possibilities you could choose from. Corner sofas are great for having guests over and you can even maximise space by choosing a sofa bed too if your guests regularly stay over.

2)
The Perfect Fit

Before you buy – measure up. Check the area you plan to put your new sofa and make sure it will fit. Remember – your sofa needs to be able to fit through the door frame, any corridors and the front or back door too so include them in your measurements, you don’t want to be disappointed.

3)
Feeling Comfortable?

Over time sofa cushion fillings often lose their bounce, so think about your comfort levels when choosing your new sofa. Foam or fibre filled cushions are great to sink into but they often need plumping back up (and it can be quite regular too) whereas pocket-sprung cushions will retain their shape and offer good levels of support.

4)
How about a splash of colour?

Sofas are often the focal point of a living room therefore colour is important. Will your new sofa go with your current colour scheme or will it be the reason for redecoration?

A sofa can provide the pop in colour to complement or become a bold statement in your colour scheme and we can help with this too. Our interior designer can offer services on complimentary schemes with our sofas and how to style them up if you need want a touch of flair to your room.

5)
Practicality.

If you have young children or an artistic family, faux leather or leather sofas are both hardwearing and easy to clean. They just need a weekly wipe down with a damp cloth or alternatively, use our leather sofa cleaner kit to help get you underway.
